Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is set to be sidelined for up to two months with a hamstring injury he sustained during Sunday's match with Real Betis. After receiving the results of those tests, Barcelona said the Argentinian is likely to be absent for between 'six and eight weeks'. Fernando Torres makes the most of City’s late slip

Mix up at the back allows Chelsea striker secure victory at Stamford Bridge Fernando Torres scores Chelsea’s late winner against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Photograph: Clive Rose/Getty Images Chelsea 2 Manchester City 1:   It was around six seconds from the 90 minute-mark here, the fourth official preparing to hoist his board for added time, when   Fernando Torres   confirmed his revival by burying Manchester City’s prospects in south-west London. A pinball in central midfield ended with Willian punting down-field over a back-tracking Matija Nastasic , the centre half panicking and nodding back and over an on-rushing  Joe Hart . There was Torres, sprinting beyond the visitors’ confused last line of defence and away from Martín Demichelis, to convert into the gaping net. A man who has endured plenty of wretched luck in front of goal had his good fortune at last. This was a first Premier League goal of the season, and only a second of the calendar year, with its

Welcome to Zola's place! Familiar face set to greet Chelsea supporters in Swindon boozer ahead of Capital One Cup clash

The thousands of Chelsea fans travelling to Swindon for Tuesday's Capital One Cup tie might be pleased to hear Gianfranco Zola is waiting for them.   Well, a mural of the iconic Italian at least.   His diminutive frame adorns the doors to a supporters club set up in this part of Wiltshire seven years ago for a group of west London expats and will, on the day of the match, host a knees up the scale of which has not been seen before.   Blues brothers: Pub landlord John Honeyman and 'Zola' prepare to welcome Chelsea fans to Swindon It is the first time since the Swindon branch was formed nearly two decades ago that Chelsea have been in town and landlord John Honeyman, 51, is expecting a bumper crowd.   'I think around 3,000 tickets have been sold for the Chelsea end and I would hope most of them come here first,' he told MailOnline Sport. 'It will be a good drink and sing song.'  In an annex of the Swiss Chalet pub is Zola's Bar, which houses a couple of s

Okagbare Wins Second Medal In 200m Final

Blessing Okagbare once again took Nigeria to the podium at the on-going IAAF World Athletics Championship in Moscow. The African record holder put up a strong fight to win the bronze medal in the women’s 200m event. Okagbare clocked 22.32 seconds to finish behind 100m champion shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica who picked the gold medal with a time of 22.17 seconds. Murielle Ahoure of Cote d’Ivoire posted a time of 22.32 seconds to clinch silver medal even though she and Okagbare crossed the finish line the same time. Meanwhile Nigeria is in for another medal haul as its 4×400 women’s relay team qualified for the final of the event. The quartet of Reginal George, Omolara Omotoso, Patience Okon and Josephine Ehihie clocked a season’s best time of 3 minutes 27.39 seconds to finish second behind Great Britain. The performance of the women quartet has raised expectations that Nigeria might pick a medal when the final takes place on Saturday.

Okagbare Wants To Be Like Bolt

Nigeria's superwoman, meet Jamaica's superman. Triple threat Blessing Okagbare, here to compete in the long jump, 100 and 200 metres, is drawing favourable comparisons to sprint sensation Usain Bolt at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics (WCA). She likes it. "A lot of people have been, maybe, saying that," Okagbare said, laughing on August 15. "If they say that, then it's an honour. "Usain Bolt is a great athlete, an extremely talented athlete, and for some people to say you actually have, maybe you're even close to the talent he has, is a great honour for me." Like Bolt, Okagbare carries an impressive physical frame when compared to most of her competitors - 5' 11" tall and weighing 150 pounds. Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, gold medallist in the 100 metres here, is listed at 5' 0", 110 pounds. Bolt competes in multiple events as well - the 100m and 200m - and has toyed with the idea of doing t

Pics:Shaquille O'Neal And Kevin Hart Pose For The Best Photo The Internet Has Ever Seen

What happens when famously tall person Shaquille O'Neal and admittedly short person Kevin Hart get together and try to have a conversation? Pure magic, that's what. The 7-foot 1-inch tall basketball legend and the 5-foot 4-inches tall actor attended the 13th Annual Harold and Carole Pump Foundation Gala Honoring Jamie Foxx at The Beverly Hilton Hotel last week and posed for an adorable/hilarious (cross one out) photo showcasing, quite proudly, their differences. Super Eagles soar over Bafana

Nigeria strengthened their credentials as the best team on the African continent when they defeated South Africa 2-0 in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Substitute Uche Nwafor netted a brace as the Super eagles proved to be more clinical in front of goal, while Bafana were unable to convert their chances. The visitors unlocked the Bafana Bafana defence in the 11th minute with a long ball that almost fell for Nnamdi Oduamadi, but Itumeleng Khune came out of his line to make a brave interception before gathering the ball. Three minutes later it was the hosts who threatened with long range efforts at the other end but Reneilwe Letsholonyane saw his shot blocked on the edge of the box before Tshepo Masilela fired wide moments later. Gordon Igesund’s side had a much better chance to take the lead in the 24th minute when Bernard Parker broke through on the right before delivering a low ball across the goalmouth, but Siphiwe Tshabalala arrived late at the f

Moyes’ French fancy: Kondogbia is new target for Manchester United

Moyes has so far been frustrated in his bid to lure Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Old Trafford while there has also been speculation linking him with moves for Luka Modric and Marouane Fellaini. French starlet Geoffrey Kondogbia has emerged as a target for United as David Moyes continues his hunt for midfield reinforcements. Moyes has so far been frustrated in his bid to lure Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Old Trafford while there has also been speculation linking him with moves for Luka Modric and Marouane Fellaini. Fellaini missed Everton’s final pre-season friendly against Real Betis on Sunday with what manager Roberto Martinez described as an ‘infected cut’. Sevilla star Kondogbia, who can play in midfield or at centre half, would represent a cheaper option with the 20-year-old available for between 15m and 20m euros. Kondogbia was linked with Real Madrid earlier in the summer, although that interest cooled after they signed Real Sociedad midfielder Asie

The Dangers Of Over-Exercising

#15 Too Much Of A Good Thing? Exercise can be compared to a remedy. The remedy is very effective for weight management and overall health, and it also keeps the body from injuring itself during everyday, light activities. However too much of any remedy can turn into a bad thing. Trainers only recommend intense exercise sessions in small doses because over-exercising can damage our bodies both chemically and physically. Remember, exercise is a reward! It shouldn’t be a compensation for poor eating habits. Health experts warn that too many people believe that they can eat whatever they want because they can just exercise harder and longer to make up for it. Over-exercising has a number of detrimental effects on our bodies, many of which people are unaware of.   #14 Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness One of the many side effects of over-exercising is that it affects muscle tissue. Exercising too much can impair the ability of muscles to naturally and quickly heal themselves afte
