Doctor mutilates baby’s corpse, removes eyes, tongue,private part

The Ogun State Police Command, Sunday, said it has arrested one Dr. Babawale Joshua who owned Ajike Medical Centre at 11, Adeyemi Street, Saka, Sango Ota, for suspected ritual activities and disrespect to the corpse of a 13-month-old baby who died in his hospital, Saturday. According the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the state, Mr Muyiwa Ogunjobi, the police discovered that the boy’s corpse was mutilated. Pope Francis: Gay Lobby Exists

Pope Francis acknowledged the existence of a 'gay lobby' in the Roman Curia for the first time last week and suggested that he was considering taking action on it. The Pontiff made the statement on a 'gay lobby' in the Vatican during an audience granted to CLAR (the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious Men and Women - Confederación Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Religiosos y Religiosas) on June 6, 2013, the Catholic blog Rorate Caeli reported. Security tightens as Mandela spends fourth day in hospital

JOHANNESBURG- South African police on Tuesday tightened security at the Pretoria hospital where ailing anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela was spending his fourth day in intensive care battling a lung infection. Around a dozen armed police stood guard outside the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in the capital, where the 94-year-old remained in “serious but stable” condition. Mandela, one of the greatest figures of the 20th century, is being treated for a recurrent lung infection that medical experts say could be life threatening. Tuesday marked 49 years to the day since he was sentenced to life in prison in 1964 for conspiring to overthrow the apartheid government.

Building collapses, kills 3 children in Sokoto

(Sokoto State) – A building has collapsed, killing three children of same parents in Adarawa area of Dange town in Sokoto State. The structure caved in as a result of wind and rainstorm that occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The victims of the disaster are:  Zahara’u, Yusuf and Zainab Abu-Malam , aged 15,  9 and 7 years respectively. The Chairman of Dange-Shuni Local Government Area, Alhaji Magaji Bodai, told NAN in Dange on Tuesday that two of the children died on Sunday while the third one died on Monday at a hospital following injuries sustained from the incident. He said he had since visited the area and condoled with the family of the victims. The chairman described the incident as an act of God and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for the family to bear the  loss. Bodai said he had ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the collapsed building. (NAN)
