UK murder: Adebowale leaves hospital, now in custody

One of the two main suspects in the brutal murder of a British soldier by Islamic extremists near his London barracks was discharged from hospital and taken into police custody on Tuesday. Michael Adebowale, 22, faces questioning over the soldier’s murder as well as the attempted murder of a police officer, the Metropolitan Police said. Adebowale and his fellow suspect in the killing of soldier Lee Rigby, Michael Adebolajo, 28, were shot and injured by police at the scene near the barracks in Woolwich on Wednesday. They have been under police guard in hospital. Both men are believed to be known to the security services. Adebowale and Adebolajo are Muslim converts from Nigerian Christian families.

He said Mr Adebolajo was arrested with five others and later deported. The Kenyan government had previously denied he had ever visited the country. Mr Adebolajo, 28, and a second man, Michael Adebowale, 22, were arrested on suspicion of the murder of soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich on Wednesday.
