Kenny Ogungbe, Kenny Saint Best Lose Mother

Managing Director of Radio Services, Daar Communications, Kenny Ogungbe, lost his mother yesterday evening . Otunba Letticia Onojoke, aged 80, died in Abuja yesterday, in the arms of  one of her children. Her death was confirmed on Tuesday evening. Last year, Otunba Ogungbe featured alongside other mothers of celebrities in  Soaraway  TV reality show,  Supermom , where she shared her experience of raising her children with her later husband. Marriage, according to the late matriarch of the Ogungbe’s family, was a mixed bag of experience. UPDATED:ASUU Postpones Executive Meeting Over Iyayi's Death

A former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Festus Iyayi , died on Tuesday in a car crash on Lokoja-Abuja Expressway. Iyayi was returning from a meeting in one of the Northern ASUU chapters when the accident occurred. He was in company with some ASUU leaders and they were said to be returning from Kano where they sought the views of members on ending the four-month-old ASUU strike. Daily Times could not confirm the total number of casualties in the crash. However, his death has led to the postment of ASUU's executive meeting, which was to have met Wednesday to decide whether they should call of their four-month old strike. According to Dele Momodu's tweet ASUU will assemble on the 15th of January for another meeting, so unfortunate and we hope another member doesn't kick the bucket, or else it will be rescheduled for December of that same year

CBN SAYS 8 NIGERIAN Banks are to BIG to Fall

First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank), Zenith Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), Access Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Ecobank Nigeria and Diamond Bank Plc have been designated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as “too big to fail”, owing to the fact that their failure could pose a systemic risk to the banking industry and the larger economy. The eight banks alone account for 75 per cent of the banking sector in terms of earnings, profitability assets, customer deposits and branch networks. The CBN, it was learnt, has therefore adopted a more robust regulatory regime to monitor and scrutinise the eight banks, in order to ensure that they are healthy. The central bank has also asked the eight banks to increase their capital base in order to give them a buffer against internal and exogenous shocks . Android is on a roll. A staggering 81 percent of the smartphones shipped worldwide in the third quarter of this year were running Google's mobile operating system, according to technology research firm IDC. This is up from 74.9 percent during the same time last year, IDC found. Meanwhile, Apple's numbers fell. The worldwide market share of iOS, the operating system that powers iPhones, dropped during the third quarter to 12.9 percent from 14.4 percent, according to IDC. The reason is less than shocking: iPhones are freaking expensive. As the chart below shows, the average selling price for an iPhone last quarter was $635. But the average price for a smartphone running Android -- there are many manufacturers -- was only $268.
