What should have been a moment of joy for a jobless couple, Mr. Elisha Bassey and his wife, Patience, turned to sadness when a set of conjoined twins was born to the family on Tuesday. The 32-year-old resident of the Federal Capital Teritory, Abuja, who is from Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, and his 30-year-old wife, are currently at a loss. The conjoined twins were delivered at about 7 pm on July 2, 3013 at LUNA Hospital in Gwarinpa, Abuja. Bassey said, “The babies are joined from the stomach and chest down. They have three legs joined together, one liver, one kidney and one intestine.” Ironically, the scan that was conducted didn’t reveal that it was conjoined twins. Officers of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service on Friday paraded 147 persons from Niger Republic and Chad, who illegally came to the state without valid travelling documents. The Comptroller of NIS in the state, Mr. Adesola Sessi, told journalists in Akure that the illegal immigrants were picked up by his men at the Sabo and Shasha areas of the state capital. He explained that the people will be repatriated to their countries of origin immediately because they were constituting a great security risk, especially when it was discovered that they had no means of livelihood. He said two of them attacked and injured some immigration officers while trying to resist arrest on Thursday. Sessi said the illegal immigrants had been living in the state for a very long time and that it took his men diligent surveillance to fish them out of their hideouts.

  Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, who are automatic delegates for party primaries, have kicked against a consensus arrangement the national leadership of the party is proposing to select its candidate for the 2014 governorship poll. The leaders, who held a meeting in Ado Ekiti, expressed their support for former Governor Ayo Fayose while some of them advocated that the party should conduct primaries to pick the most popular candidate. The leaders include current and former local government chairmen of PDP, women leaders, secretaries and treasurers in the 16 local government areas of the state. The PDP leaders, in a communiqué made available to journalists after the meeting, adopted Fayose, saying he had the capacity and acceptability to wrest power from the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria in the state.

During the BlackBerry Q1 2014 conference call , BlackBerry CEO, Thorsten Heins let it be known a new BlackBerry 7 device would be released soon. Before that, there was plenty of rumors one was coming but that sealed the deal for it. At this point, there's no official branding for the device that we're aware of but there is plenty of references in recent builds of BlackBerry Desktop Manager that suggest it will be a 'Curve' series device. A suspected fake National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member, Opeyemi Ajala, 34, has been remanded in prison custody after he was arrested by the police at Dolphin Division, Ikoyi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, and charged to court. He allegedly told the police that he was contracted by Olotu Osayowanon now at large to help him serve the one year compulsory scheme with an agreement that he would be paying him N19,000 monthly. Trouble started for Opeyemi, a resident of 25, Jebba Street, Ebute Meta, Lagos on 27 June, 2013 when he went to the Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA, Ikoyi, Lagos to register for the one year NYSC compulsory scheme as a graduate. During screening, the officer in charge of the programme reportedly discovered that all the documents he presented were fake. The Nigerian movie industry has yet again been thrown into mourning with the death of Tony Umole. The actor who is popular as "Daddy", a character he interpreted well in One Love, a TV serial drama.  His demise was confirmed by Taju Adepetu, the Executive Producer of One Love.  Umole acted in Abuja Connection back in 2003 with the likes of Eucharia Anumobi and Enebeli Elebuwa. The leadership of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has said it is in total support of the suspension of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and accused him of already working with the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. The party leaders, led by the state party chairman, Felix Obuah, had a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan and also apologised to the president for the governor's actions, which they described as 'shameful.' The Obuah led leadership, opposed to Mr. Amaechi, is believed to be sponsored by the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, and the presidency. They were declared the authentic leadership after a court sacked the party leadership loyal to Mr. Amaechi. The Togo-born actress who converted from Christianity to Islam after her childbirth did her Islamic name change (Wonka Ceremony) after which she changed her name to Aishat Olaoye. "In case you want to know I have a good relationship with my baby's father and that is why I had to convert to Muslim and got a new name Aishat before the baby was named. Nigeria international Christian Obodo, who was reported to be missing by Dinamo Minsk, was found hale and hearty in Udine, Italy on Tuesday. This past weekend, the Director General of Dinamo Minsk, Sergei Pavlyukovich interviewed by goals.by declared Obodo missing. It is not the first time that law enforcements agents have gone searching for the central midfielder. While vacationing in Warri, Nigeria last summer, Obodo was kidnapped by gunmen who later contacted his family and asked for a ransom. He was later rescued by police. The Edo State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a 'gay' Nigerian pastor identified as Philips Ogbebor, who allegedly had carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old male member of his church (names withheld). After the act, the pastor allegedly threatened to kill his victim if he disclosed the act to the public. Speaking to Vanguard, Pastor Ogbebor simply said: "God will judge, go and talk to others" and kept on mumbling But his victim narrated his ordeal. A dump site has been discovered near Aba, Abia State, where over 20 human skulls and decomposing bodies, including those of school children were found. SunNews reports that the site, which was a horror to behold was located, at about kilometer 15 on the Aba/Azumini Highway at an area called "No man's land" after Akpaa village in Obingwa Local Government of the state. The discovery followed the arrest of four policemen attached to the Federal Highway Patrol unit of the Nigeria Police, Aba Section, who allegedly killed a 26-year-old man in Aba and dumped his body at the site. The policemen led by their officer-in-charge, Hyginus Omeze, who were ordered to be detained by the Area Commander for Aba, Rabiu Dayi were alleged to have murdered one Onyekachi Chukwu, 26. A young man was hit by a moving train this past weekend as he was walking into on the tracks along Agege motor road by Airport bus stop, Ikeja. According to reports, the man had his ears covered with ear phones as he walked on the train tracks which prevented him from hearing the train approaching. He was then knocked down by the moving train. Sympathizers approached the scene of the accident and proceeded to rescue the man. As at the time he was rushed to Ikeja General Hospital, the man was still alive but his head was battered. His current state of health cannot be ascertained at this time.
