Beyonce And Blue Ivy Have Fun At The Playground (PHOTOS)

Beyonce may be one of the most famous faces on the planet right now, but it doesn't mean she can't take her baby girl to the playground like any normal parent would. Queen Bey posted a bunch of new photos to her Tumblr blog Beyonce | I Am that show off her July 4th celebrations. In some, we get a glimpse of her and husband Jay-Z's holiday feast, which consisted of lobsters, corn on the cob and fresh fruit. In others, we see Bey looking sexy as ever leaning on a Rolls Royce convertible . But the best photos, we think, are the ones that show Bey taking her precious baby Blue Ivy to the park, hand in hand, as the little one holds on to a bright pink toy. Stylish as always, Blue Ivy wears a pretty dress and a headband as her mother wears shorts, a colorful top and a black fedora. For whatever reason, the rest of the parents (and the kids) in the photo seem totally unfazed by the superstar's presence, which allowed the 31-year-old singer to let loose. In subsequent ph

We’re searching for Fashola’s successor – ACN

Governor Babatunde Fashola The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has refuted speculations that Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the National Leader of the Party, Bola Tinubu, has been chosen to succeed Governor Babatunde Fashola as Lagos governor. The speculations, which have become a subject for debate on the Internet, has it that Tinubu has decided to impose his wife on the state, by  ensuring that she emerges as the candidate of the ACN in the 2015 governorship election. But the Publicity Secretary of Lagos ACN, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, told SUNDAY PUNCH that it was mere fabrication, saying the Senator was not interested in governing the state. “No, it’s not true. There is no element of truth in that. It is a figment of the imagination of the people who are propagating the idea. The woman is not interested in that. There’s nothing like that. We see it as a rumour of the marketplace. It’s all noise and no substance. She is satisfied with where she is in the

Enact laws to protect critical facilities — Ndukwe

Former Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Mr. Ernest Ndukwe, has urged the Federal Government and the National Assembly to enact laws to protect Information and Communications Technology and power facilities as critical national infrastructure. Ndukwe, who made the call at Internet Governance Forum in Abuja, said the enactment of a law on critical national infrastructure would provide a framework for curtailing the growing vandalism of ICT, transport and electricity facilities across the country. According to him, ICT including broadband constitutes essential infrastructure of today’s digital economy as the networks make it possible for African nations to participate actively in the world economy. He added that increased dependency on ICT infrastructure by other sectors could lead to increased vulnerability of the economy as a whole, thus the need to protect the infrastructure from being attacked physically or in the cyberspace. He said, “No modern eco

Understanding Obama’s African visit

Odilim Basil Enwegbara Not visiting Nigeria by the United States President, Barack Obama, during his visit to Africa would not have become a matter of serious debate had it not been that the country was earlier on the list, but later suddenly dropped without any plausible reasons. The reason why it shouldn’t have is because in international diplomacy, decisions about places or countries national leaders visit or do not visit are simply the prerogative those nations, and they do not owe anyone or any nation explanations for their decisions. Underlining the very important fact that even though Obama is the US president, given that his official oversea trips are never a jamboree but as the chief corporate officer of the US, such are always conducted to maximise national interest, it is hard for the president to simply go to any country without either the immediate and expectant strategic US national interests being the reason. For example, his first and only African visit in his fir

Conjoined twins born to jobless Abuja couple

What should have been a moment of joy for a jobless couple, Mr. Elisha Bassey and his wife, Patience, turned to sadness when a set of conjoined twins was born to the family on Tuesday. The 32-year-old resident of the Federal Capital Teritory, Abuja, who is from Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, and his 30-year-old wife, are currently at a loss. The conjoined twins were delivered at about 7 pm on July 2, 3013 at LUNA Hospital in Gwarinpa, Abuja. Bassey said, “The babies are joined from the stomach and chest down. They have three legs joined together, one liver, one kidney and one intestine.” Ironically, the scan that was conducted didn’t reveal that it was conjoined twins. When our correspondent visited the hospital on Friday evening, the issue was being discussed in hushed tones. Bassey told Saturday PUNCH that his wife was still in the hospital but not fully recovered. He said, “The scan was done but we were not informed that it was conjoined twins. When we

NIS arrests 147 illegal immigrants in Ondo

Officers of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service on Friday paraded 147 persons from Niger Republic and Chad, who illegally came to the state without valid travelling documents. The Comptroller of NIS in the state, Mr. Adesola Sessi, told journalists in Akure that the illegal immigrants were picked up by his men at the Sabo and Shasha areas of the state capital. He explained that the people will be repatriated to their countries of origin immediately because they were constituting a great security risk, especially when it was discovered that they had no means of livelihood. He said two of them attacked and injured some immigration officers while trying to resist arrest on Thursday. Sessi said the illegal immigrants had been living in the state for a very long time and that it took his men diligent surveillance to fish them out of their hideouts.

Why phones with real keyboards still exist

Touchscreen keyboards are the de facto standard on smartphones now - so what's with the diehards that won't let go of their old-school BlackBerry devices? It may be preaching to the choir coming to the CrackBerry community to espouse the virtues of a real, physical keyboard, but when it comes to today's Talk Mobile topic, a lot of folks on the outside figure the debate between buttons and pixels has long been over. Sure enough, the market has spoken with its wallet and gone with all-touch smartphone models, but at this point I think that has just as much to do with a lack of options as anything. The all-touch revolution was kicked off in no small part by the iPhone, and ever since, finding anything other than a minimally-featured slab of glass at your local carrier store has become a challenge. For many, an all-touch device was their first smartphone (heck, it was probably their second, too), and they adapted from the get-go to virtual on-screen keyboards. For those

New BlackBerry 7 device appears set to arrive as the BlackBerry 9720

During the BlackBerry Q1 2014 conference call , BlackBerry CEO, Thorsten Heins let it be known a new BlackBerry 7 device would be released soon. Before that, there was plenty of rumors one was coming but that sealed the deal for it. At this point, there's no official branding for the device that we're aware of but there is plenty of references in recent builds of BlackBerry Desktop Manager that suggest it will be a 'Curve' series device. But with that being said, we've seen stuff change before so alas, wait and see how it gets branded. Aside from that, the UAProf (viewable in Firefox) required for it has appeared on the BlackBerry website and confirms a few other details about the device. It's listed as the BlackBerry 9720. Full QWERTY keyboard. Display resolution is 480x360 Runs BlackBerry OS 7.1 Supports: 802.11b / 802.11g / 802.11n / 3G Overall, pretty obvious stuff and no surprises there but that was pretty much expected. Personall
