Patience Jonathan lied against me –Amaechi

Mrs. Patience Jonathan The Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday said the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, lied against him in her public account of the misunderstanding between him and the President’s wife a few weeks ago. The governor spoke in Port Harcourt when clergymen of the Niger Delta Bishops Forum paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House. He said it was important for the public to have a true picture of what transpired between him and the President’s wife. He said, “I want to be put on record that the wife of the President said when my wife came to beg me, I pushed her away. I have never quarrelled with my wife publicly and I will never quarrel with my wife publicly. “There was no time I pushed my wife away and there is no time I will push my wife away. I just want to correct that so that nobody goes away with the impression that somebody told my wife, ‘go and talk to your husband, s

NDLEA in secret investigation of celebrity drug traffickers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency is taking covert steps to monitor specific Nigerian celebrities moving in and out of the country. Spokesperson for the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, who dropped the hint during a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday, did not reveal the names of such celebrities. He was reacting to reports that some people in the entertainment industry find it easy to traffic drugs in and out of the country. Ofoyeju said, “We have some people we are working on but it is not for us to say who is under our surveillance. The purpose of the investigation will become defeated. We have some credible leads that we are working on. “This is not to say the NDLEA is relaxing its surveillance on ordinary Nigerians or other categories of travellers to ensure the eradication of drug trafficking in this country. “You need to remember that the agency is an elite organisation that works basically through investigation. We don’t totally discountenance rumour

Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas 'to make Manchester United choice'

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has given Manchester United fresh hope in their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas by admitting part of the decision about a move rests with the midfielder. The Spanish champions have already rejected bids of £25m and £30m from United for the former Arsenal captain. The Red Devils are now weighing up a third attempt to secure his signature. Martino said: "I would prefer him to stay with us and I dare say he will, but it's his decision." “He is one of the best players in the squad. I think he will stay. But there's a part that he has to decide” Gerardo Martino Barca's hierarchy have always been adamant that Fabregas will not be allowed to leave, but Martino's latest comments carried a significantly softer tone. Speaking after his team's 8-0 friendly thrashing of Brazilian side Santos at the Nou Camp on Friday, the recently appointed Martino said: "I had a short chat with him and told him what I think. "Ce

Oboabona would’ve failed Arsenal trial – Chukwu

Oboabona Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has backed  the decision by Godfrey Oboabona to refuse  to undergo a trial with Arsenal before signing him. Chukwu believes the Eagles defender would have failed the test. Oboabona on Sunday fired a broadside at the Premier League giants, accusing the Gunners of disrespecting Nigerian clubs, after he was offered a trial at the club. “Arsenal’s management told me to come for a trial when I won the Africa Cup of Nations,” The Sun quoted  the 22-year-old centre-back  as saying. “I think I should be above such requests. It is high time some of these clubs started respecting Nigeria.” Sunshine Stars General Manager Mike Idoko stoked the fire on Wednesday when he accused  Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger  of attempting to undervalue the player. Speaking to our correspondent on the telephone during the week, Chukwu said Oboabona would have been rejected by Arsenal  because big European clubs don’t believe in African defenders. T

APGA crisis not over — Factional chair

Maxi Okwu | credits: File copy A leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Maxi Okwu, who was elected the party’s national chairman, has faulted reports that his faction of the party had reconciled with the faction led by Victor Umeh, who is recognised as the national chairman by the Independent National Electoral Commission. He said the reconciliation between Umeh and the Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, was driven by personal interest in the forthcoming governorship election in the state and did not mean the APGA crisis had ended. AsB was told that he still stood on the April convention, where he was elected national chairman and would not accept Umeh as the national chairman of APGA. He said, “APGA has not reconciled. It is only Obi and Umeh that reconciled, but that is not APGA. Other leaders of the party, including me, were not carried along. Of course Obi and Umeh are two prominent players, they can attract attention but they alone don’t make up APGA. “I

Photo: Is This Stick-On InvisiBra The Ultimate Strapless & Backless Bra?

Shoppers at London's busy Regent Street were treated to the sight of 10 women striding down the street wearing blue jeans, high heels… and very little else. The stunt was part of the promotion of InvisiBra: a new strapless, backless bra that all the women were wearing to maintain their dignity. The bra claims to be a backless, strapless, self-adhesive bra that will lift and enhance cleavage but won't slip off. I know the guys would love this one because its easier for them to take off! HOW DOES MOTO X COMPARE TO IPHONE 5 AND GALAXY S4?

Motorola showed off an entire  line of new Droid  phones last week, but it was nothing but a tease for non- Verizon  customers as that was the only service provider those handsets are available on. A flagship phone has to transcend those network lines to reach as many hands as possible. That job appears like it belongs to Moto X, the newest handset from Motorola that will be available on every major carrier. Does Moto X have enough power to push itself up the ranks and be the signature phone of Motorola? How does it compare to the other handsets at the top of their class? We find out by pitting the Moto X against the  Galaxy S4  and iPhone 5 in a spec showdown.   iPhone 5 Galaxy S4 Moto X  Size 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 (mm) 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 (mm) 129 x 65 x 10.4 (mm) Weight 112g 130g 130g Screen 4.0-inch LCD 5.0-inch Super AMOLED 4.7-inch AMOLED Resolution 1136×640 pixels 1080×1920 pixels 720×1280 pixels OS iOS 6.0.1 Android 4.2 with TouchWiz UI Android 4.2 Storag

Raven-Symone Comes Out: Actress Thanks Government Now That She Can Get Married

Raven-Symone appears to have put a long-held rumors about her sexual orientation to rest when she tweeted that she can "finally get married" and thanked the government for it. Of course, it's a safe assumption that the 27-year-old actress is referring to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn The Defense of Marriage Act back in June, which will allow same same-sex marriages to be recognized by the Federal government. In the past, Symone has been much more private about her personal life. The last time the Internet lit up with rumors that she was gay was when she tweeted: "My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm datings to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life," The Huffington Post reached to a representative for Raven-Symonè, who declined to comment on the tweet.

WhatsApp’s BIG secret: The second check mark does NOT mean your message has been read

As BlackBerry gets set to take its native BBM instant messaging service cross-platform to Android and iOS, there’s no doubt the incumbent it wants to crush is WhatsApp. Over the last couple of years WhatsApp has grown to have a huge base of users across platforms and around the world. Jump into any phone app store, and WhatsApp will always be near the top of the list. WhatsApp has been successful because it gained critical mass in filling a void that BBM could have and arguably should have done years ago. Anybody who’s used BBM and watched the rise of WhatsApp knows WhatsApp essentially ripped off BBM in form and function, and has been playing catch up to BBM on a feature by feature basis. Most people I know don’t love WhatsApp – they simply tolerate it, as it gets the job done well enough for the most part. The thing is, it really doesn’t. One critical feature that WhatsApp is sorely missing that a lot of users simply do not realize is a notification that your message has been r

Orla Kiely, Textile Designer, Shares Her Renovated London Terrace House In Dwell's September Issue (PHOTOS)

What do you get when you mix the "queen of print" with a lovely London terrace house? Take a peek at textile designer Orla Kiely's home, featured in Dwell's "Designers At Home" September issue and you'll find out. The energetic interiors are an eclectic mix of midcentury finds accented by Kiely's bold palette and graphic motifs. White walls and ebony-colored salvaged floors showcase her art and furnishings. Our favorite space is a sunken sitting room with one of Kiely's wallpaper designs -- a lively Rhododendron print. "Sometimes one bold move is enough. Be brave with fewer statements," Kiely told Dwell. "Go for the big thing rather than lots of little things." We couldn't agree more. Photos courtesy of Dwell

How Microsoft blundered with the SkyDrive brand

Microsoft must rename its SkyDrive online storage service after losing a trademark infringement case in a U.K. court. Analysts and legal experts said that Microsoft’s blunder would cost it dearly, and wondered how the American technology giant could have made such a mistake. “It’s unbelievable to me that Microsoft did not see this coming,” said Peter LaMotte, an analyst with Levick, a Washington, D.C.-based strategic communications consultancy. “They should have seen it coming. And this is not the first time that this has happened to them.” LaMotte, who before he joined Levick had helped numerous startups with their branding efforts, was referring to last year, when Microsoft backed away from the “Metro” name to describe the new Windows 8 and Windows RT user interface and the apps that run on those platforms. "It's unbelievable to me that Microsoft did not see this coming. And this is not the first time that this has happened to them." Microsoft dropped

Ralph Lauren Shows Off His Amazing Homes In Architectural Digest's September Issue (PHOTOS)

Designer Ralph Lauren is a pioneer in the fashion world, but as September's Architectural Digest points out, this guru has also made strides in decor. As this year marks the 30th anniversary of his home collection that ranges from bedding to furniture, the magazine is taking a look at his amazing homes . While his Colorado ranch definitely emulates Lauren's all-American, masculine style, we were surprised to see how eclectic his Bedford, New York living room is. The space mixes pieces like 19th-century Louis XV–style wing chairs and a 19th-century Kashmiri paisley beautifully. And although we thought it was a little unusual, we have to admit, the color palette does remind us of a variety of Ralph Lauren polo shirts. Scroll down to see photos, and be sure to head over to Architectural Digest for more information . All photos by Björn Wallander/Architectural Digest Colorado ranch living room.
