For sake of accuracy; the first Lodge of Freemasons established in Nigeria was in the year 1868, called Lagos Lodge # 1171 E.C. Chartered by the United Grand Lodge of England. This was followed in the year 1896, by the establishment of MacDonald Lodge # 173 I.C. Warranted under the Grand Lodge of Ireland. Followed in the year 1913,by the consecration of Lodge Academic # 1107 S.C. by the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Thereafter a host of other Lodges folowed to present day. The founders of these pioneer Lodges were mainly colonial administrators and missionaries (clergy). Nigerian or local Brethren were initially few; however there was no discrimination,as the colonialists co-existed in Brotherly Love and affection with their black natives;examplifying the beneficial effects of the benevolent institution of Freemasonry beyond colour,creed & class,even in those dark colonial period.
In Nigeria today,there are three Masonic authorities exercising jurisdiction,namely:
The District Grand Lodge of Nigeria (English Constitution)
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Nigeria (Irish Constitution)
The District Grand Lodge of Nigeria (Scottish Constitution).
The 3 masonic Constitutions have established several Lodges meeting in virtually every known town/city in Nigeria,some dating over a hundred years. Remember: To Be 1, ASK 1.

Freemasonry promotes principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.It encourages it’s members to live a life of integrity,honour and fidelity.The fraternity claims “to make good men better men”,who adhere to it’s teachings. It encourages one to be faithful to family, friends and country. No body can be admitted who does not express a belief in God. No stupid atheist or libertine can be allowed into the doors of the Order.

If your motives are worthy, you may approach a member to introduce you. Traditionally,the fraternity does not “recruit” members by public advertisement or similar ways. People ask,seek and knock to be admitted. You must get a member who can if satisfied of your interest,may decide to propose your name for membership. In view of the exigencies of modern age;you may make contact via the Internet,from there you are linked up with a member,who will decide to propose you,when he’s satisfied.

President Goodluck Jonathan Sets-Up Amnesty Committee For Boko-Haram

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the constitution of a Presidential Committee to "constructively engage key members of Boko Haram and define a comprehensive and workable framework for resolving the crisis of insecurity in the country." Announcing the setting up of the committee, a statement by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity stated that the committee's terms of reference will include: -Developing a framework for the granting of amnesty -Setting up of a framework through which disarmament could take place within a 60-day time frame -Development of a comprehensive victims' support programme -Development of mechanisms to address the underlying causes of insurgencies that will help to prevent future occurrences.
