Both of them are HOT TEMPERED

Parents of Kolawole Arowolo, the jobless graduate, who was alleged to have murdered and mutilated his wife, Titilayo, opens up in a recent interview.

They maintained that Kolawole and Titilayo were hot-tempered and have been fighting two months after their marriage.

His mother, a trader, also confirmed that Kolawole at a time suffered insanity that was treated.

She also said that she told Titilayo to stay in her father’s house when she realized they were incompatible, but denied that her son was a ritualist.

She equally used the opportunity to beg for mercy from Oyakhire’s family.

Excerpts from the interview;

Mummy, do you think this can be a spiritual attack as claimed?

Ki Olorun Ogbawa Lowo Ogun Aye (May God save us from spiritual attacks).

Since they got married it was misunderstanding and fights everyday. There was no month that we didn’t settle a quarrel between them. I was fed up to the point that in January this year, I told Omo(Titilayo) to go to their house, hoping that if they are separated for a while things might become normal again.

It was in that January that I saw my son and Omo last. The next thing was that my son never called me again. Even if I called him, he wouldn’t pick it and he stopped coming to our house.

It was one of his friends that told me that he was angry with me because I told his wife to go to their house.

I told his friend that I took that decision because of their frequent fights and that none of them was ready to exercise patience.

This was what I have been avoiding that informed my saying so. They should give themselves some space.

I saw them last in January, but I called his wife frequently.

When you realized that they were not compatible, what effort do you make to forestall this situation?

We said she should go to their house and I called her father that he should not allow her to come again.

I took Kolade’s picture to our June rally for prayers in the cold nights for a smooth relationship.

Some of her friends said she decided to go back to Kolade because of her daughter, what is your comment on that?

The girl was not with them before. She stays with her parents. One thing was that whenever they had a quarrel before you know it, they would start calling themselves again saying, “I love you’.

That was what Kolade’s friends told us that she used to send love text messages to Kolade after every fight.

your son, Kolade was alleged to have been suffering from brain problem. Have you ever suspected anything like that?

It is true. He has been a patient before. I stayed with him for about 3 months.

What did the doctors tell you afterwards?

They recommended some medication and he was feeling fine but sometimes his anger used to be very deadly.

Do you think that might have caused the murder that day?

I wasn’t there. I don’t know what might have caused it. God knows the best.

I only wanted to beg Titilayo’s father. He is like a father to me. He should know it is the devil’s handiwork.

I have no excuse at all, than only begging them to please take heart for Olamide’s sake.

Did you have any premonition of her death?

We warned them and even suggested that they should go for deliverance because they were hot-tempered. But they ignored my plea.

Even a friend to Titilayo’s father suggested that they should go for marriage counseling because they didn’t do that before they wedded, but they ignored his plea.

One day, she told me,”Mummy.I am only respecting you if not I would have poisoned Kolade a long time ago.

Why do you think she said things like that?

Within two months that they met and confirmed her pregnancy, they wedded.

We went to a church to pray and she confessed that she was responsible for Kolade’s joblessness.

Kolade was working before. He was an auditor where he was working.

KOLADE’S FATHER SIDE OF THE STORY;

What can you say was the motive behind their frequent fight?

Kolade lost his plum job and their domestic problem escalated. I think this could be responsible for fighting his wife frequently.

Why fighting his wife everyday?

Very good. One thing was that, both of them were hot-tempered.

One day they came for Christmas celebration in our house. It should either be 2008 or 2009.They were arguing over an issue and mummy was pacifying Titilayo, her reply was,”Mummy,I cannot keep quiet for Kolade.I would kill you and kill myself.”

That was what happened in my own house and in my presence. When Kolade was talking, she would be talking too.

Didn’t you know Titilayo before she married your son?

I didn’t know her.Kolade as a young man had girlfriends. But we later saw Titilayo and he said,”Mummy, this is the woman I would marry.”

We asked him, this woman? He said yes. He said they met during their Masters Degree Programme and she was already pregnant.

Within two months, they had their wedding.
