OERL Study In India Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates 2012


Brief Decription:

Saint Francis De-Sale College (Affiliated to University of Bangalore), India and the Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore (Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgium,) is making available 64 scholarships worth $63,000 for 64 Nigerians, who wish to be admitted to any of the approved undergraduate courses in the school by August, 2012. A total of 64 Nigerian Students who successfully emerge winners of the scholarships will join the 2010/2011 batch of Nigerians who won the scholarship in the previous academic year in India this August.

Approval & Examination Conduct:

The Oredian Education Resources Limited (OERL) Study in India Scholarship is fully approved by the authority of the participating Indian Institutions. The scholarship examination is overseen and will be conducted by the NABTEB Integrated Services Limited, a consultancy arm of National Business & Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) in three zones of Nigeria (The West -Lagos, North -Abuja, and East -Port Harcourt).

2012 Winners of this scholarship will take their courses in either Saint Francis De-Sale College (Affiliated to University of Bangalore), India and the Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore (Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum,) India depending on the course of study chosen.

Nature and Value of the scholarship

The scholarship is worth $63,000 dollars for tuition fee only is distributed to 64 beneficiaries and split over three/four academic sessions of their study in the above named institutions. Scholarships to be awarded  cover tuition fees only and are of three categories as follows:
  1. Full scholarship: this covers the tuition fees of the 3 or 4 years degree programme.
  2. Three/Two years scholarship: this covers the tuition  fee for two years of a 3 years degree course of study or 3 years of 4 year degree programme
  3. One year scholarship: this covers only one year tuition fee of a three year or 4 year academic programme.
Successful students will take care of their flight to India and living expenses in India for the period of the programme.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the scholarship test, applicants must satisfy the follow eligibility criteria:
  1. Applicant must have 5 credits in relevant subjects in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB ( Engineering students must have at least a Credit in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).
  2.  Must be within 17-24 years of age
  3.  Must be ready to undertake any of the above course fields in the sponsoring institution
  4. Should be ready to represent Nigeria in India by being a good student
  5. Any Nigerian Aspirant or Student can also apply
Method of selection: Strictly on academic performance, to be determined by the scholarship test result organized by NABTEB .
Deadline: Payment of processing/examination fees must be made not later than by July 24th, 2012.

Application Instructions:

To apply for this scholarship, interested candidates are required to follow the simple few steps:
Interested Nigerian students who wish to benefit the opportunity are to pay a one time examination fee (which covers Scholarship application, examination materials, centers,  Study in India orientation and seminar ) of N3,350. Bank accounts, procedures for payment, and other information will be sent to the mobile phones provided upon submission of application.

Also note that:

1. Application is done online and is open between July 9th to July 25th, 2012.
2. Applicants are required to supply the true and nothing but the true information about them in the application form.
3. Applicants must indicate the preferred examination center (Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt).
4. Examination center address will be communicated to applicants via mobile phone numbers and or email provided.

Application Confirmation Slip

Applicants will be enabled access to print the scholarship test application confirmation slip upon payment of the application fee above. The Slip will contain the Examination center as scheduled by NABTEB, the list of subjects for the test, and other relevant information about the applicant.

Conduct of the Scholarship Qualification Test:

The mode and method of the test are to be determined by the National Business & Technical Examination Board (NABTEB). Tests subjects are to be classified into three categories as follows:
i. Science Subjects (For Engineering, Natural/Applied Sciences ):
* Mathematics
* Physics
* Chemistry
* Biology
*Use of English and Current Affairs
*5 questions relating to India
ii. Art Subjects (For Arts and Humanities Courses Applicants):
* Government
* Literature in English
* CRK
* Economics
*Use of English and Current Affairs
*5 questions relating to India
iii. Social Sciences (For Business Management/Accounting and Finance Applicants):
* Economics
* Commerce
* Mathematics
* Accounts
*Use of English and Current Affairs
*5 questions relating to India

Samsung reportedly close to releasing Glass competitor — and Google’s involved

This one is definitely a rumor, but its source is reliable enough to warrant a little speculation. Analyst and blogger  Eldar Murtazin  tweeted a rather definite message this week that Samsung is “developing [its] own version of Google Glass. We will see it (probably) around April – May under Gear Glass brand.” Given that Google’s own version of Glass is not expected to hit the mass market until early 2014, Samsung’s Glass competitor could very well race Google’s to market. That might seem like a nightmare for Google, which has invested heavily in Glass and is no doubt planning for a strong event launch, but as was pointed out in a CNet article, the use of the word “Glass” implies an official partnership.
