Kano Blast: 31 victims receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammed Hospital

FG needs to be more proactive, says ANPP
Kano – Thirty-one victims of Monday’s Kano suicide bomb-attack are being treated at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, Dr Mansir Nagoda, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, said.
Dr Mansir Nagoda said on Tuesday that the victims were admitted for various injuries including burns, burst abdomen and fracture.
“The victims are responding to treatment and they are being taken care of as directed by the state government,’’ he said.
Some of the victims thanked God for sparing their lives.
‘’There was a loud sound and the next thing I can remember was when I found myself in the hospital,’’ one of the victims, Musa Sabi’u said.
Sabi’u, who was injured in the head, thanked those responsible for bringing him to the hospital.
Meanwhile, more people continued to troop to the hospital in search of their relatives as the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), has called on the Federal Government to increase its intelligence gathering in order to effectively check the rate of insecurity in the country.
The call is is contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Emma Eneukwu, on Tuesday in Abuja.
“The ANPP received the news of the Monday bombing of a motorpark in Sabon Gari, Kano, by unidentified terrorists which killed scores of innocent Nigerians, with deep shock and sadness.
“Once again, the wicked act of a few elements of terror has further pushed our great country to a possible anarchy,” ANPP said.
The party condemned the barbaric act, its perpetrators, sponsors, and commiserated with friends and families of the death in the dastard act and wished the injured quick recovery.
According to the statement, the principal task of any government is to secure the lives and property of its citizens.
“It is high time our government faced the duty it owes every Nigerian squarely.”
The party called on the nation’s security agencies to leave no stone unturned in unravelling “this heinous crime against humanity”.
“It is crucial that every necessary measure be taken to defuse the prevalent atmosphere of hopelessness in the nation as precipitated by terror attack in Kano.
“It is now manifest that the forces of evil, nibbling at the fabrics of our corporate existence as a country, will go to any length, no matter how diabolical, to achieve their satanic objectives.”
ANPP enjoined Nigerians to resist the urge to despair “in such a time like this because that is exactly what these elements want to achieve”.
ANPP expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon surmount its present troubles. (NAN)

Microsoft Is About To Leave One-Third Of All Computers Vulnerable To Hacking

Hundreds of millions of computers running everything from ATMs to the power grid will be vulnerable to hacking next month when Microsoft stops supporting its old Windows XP operating system. Hackers have been holding onto flaws in Windows XP and waiting to exploit them until after the software giant stops issuing security updates on April 8, experts say. Adam Meyers, vice president of intelligence at Crowdstrike, a cybersecurity firm, said it was “fairly dangerous” to continue using the 12-year-old operating system because after the deadline “victims can’t defend themselves.” “I certainly wouldn't run Windows XP after the 8th," Meyers said in an interview. Microsoft announced six years ago it will no longer provide security patches or technical support for the out-of-date software. Yet about  one-third of computers  around the world -- or about 500 million PCs -- still run Windows XP. On Microsoft’s website , a clock ticks down to next month’s Windows deadline an...
