Sir Alex Ferguson lands £100,000-a-day deal as United ambassador

Jason Ferguson is masterminding father Sir Alex’s hugely lucrative post-management options nine years after the Manchester United board pledged never to do business again with his football agency.

Jason’s disbanded Elite Sport ceased to act on United transfers following an internal inquiry into the 99 questions posed by United’s then major shareholders, John Magnier and JP McManus, which put Sir Alex’s transfer dealings under unprecedented scrutiny.

But the wheel has turned to the extent that Fergie’s reported £2million-a-year United ambassador deal was negotiated by Jason. The contract is for 20 appearances per year that value Sir Alex’s time at a whopping £100,000 a day.

And that day rate is what Fergie, whose retirement was front-page news in the Financial Times, could expect to earn on the business management speaking circuit around the world.

Certainly United understand Fergie’s immense value as a global figure in terms of their ever-expanding commercial operation.

Jason is also handling his father’s dealings with publisher Hodder & Stoughton for his second autobiography, to be published in October, for which an advance of around £2m was agreed three years ago.

Police Introduce Biometric Vehicle Registration

The Police said the introduction of a new Biometric Central Motor Registration (BCMR) is designed to fight terrorism, Kidnapping and car theft in the country. Police force spokesman CSP Frank Mba made this known at a press briefing in Abuja yesterday. He said the registration take effect from Monday next week and would involve the registration processes of vehicles, tricycles and auto-bikes from the analogue to the new system. He argued that the decision informing the introduction of the new process was against the backdrop of contemporary security challenges bordering on terrorism, high incidence of car theft, carjacking, kidnappings and other crimes. Mba said unlike the analogue procedure, the new method operate on smart-cards and portable hand-held receiver and is a specially developed technological means of attaching automobile owner's unique traits and personal data to their vehicles for proper identification and protection purposes.
