A 22-Year Old student has been arrested by the police for allegedly offering his 21-year-old girlfriend for sale at GH₵8, 000 for ‘’money ritual".
Samuel Dadson, a resident of Kumasi, was said to have lured his girlfriend to Accra for a business transaction, but was arrested by the police who were waiting for him at VIP bus terminal.
Briefing the media in Accra yesterday, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno said in June last year, Dadson met a taxi driver in Accra and through conversation, he expressed the desire for someone to assist him get rich through money rituals, ‘Sakawa’.
The driver told Dadson that he had heard rumours of a fetish priest at Weija, near Accra, who engaged in such acts. DCOP Yohuno said last month, Dadson called to inform the driver that he could provide two human heads and he needed a prospective buyer. The driver, alarmed, informed his pastor who advised him to report the matter to the police.
The driver did contact the police, and a policeman feigning interest in buying the girl, gave a phone number to Dadson for further communication. Dadson called the supposed buyer and offered to sell his girlfriend to him again for GH₵8, 000. Dadson again called the buyer and said he would kill his girlfriend and cut off the head so that transporting it to Accra would be easier.
DCOP Yohuno said in order to protect the girlfriend from being killed, the police told Dadson they preferred to have her alive and deal with her in the night. They then asked him to bring the girl to Accra.
Dadson demanded GH₵ 100 for transportation, which amount was wired to him through mobile transfer.
Last Wednesday, Dadson arrived with his girlfriend at the ‘VIP’ bus terminal in Accra, at about 8pm, and was arrested when he made contact with the policeman. Upon interrogation, Dadson admitted the offence and offered to lead the police to a place in Kumasi, where human heads were sold.
