THE Abia state police Command said that it is working hard to find out who beheaded a 17 year old girl in her parents’ farm in Ukome community Umuahia North Council Ares of Abia state

The girl, Chioma Emeka Ikwuagwu, was until her brutal killing an SSS 3 student of Holy Rosary College in Umuahia and hailed from Ameke Ibuku in Umuahia North Council Area.

She was killed on the 26th of July in her father’s farm in Ukome a neigbouring community and her head severed off but was not taken away.

Also, police sources said that no part of Chioma’s body was removed thereby ruling out any link to ritual killing.

Following her brutal killing, Ameke community was said to have issued an ultimatum to their Ukome neighbours, urging to say what happened to their daughter or face their wrath. The ultimatum has since expired.

According to sources, Chioma, the first amongst five children, two boys and four girls, was until her tragic death lived in Ukome with her father’s relations.

According to her father, Emeka Ikwuagwu, who narrated the ugly story of his daughter’s death, on Friday, 26th of this month, he went to collect some corns from his farm, while his wife, Akunna led some people to weed their other farm close by.

When Chioma came to the farm to bring food to the mother and others with her around 12.00pm, she was asked to go to another farm to collect some vegetables for family use later that evening.

But that turned out to be the last they would see her alive as she was later found dead with her head cut off, but not taken away.

According to the Emka, when Chioma did not return, the mother went in search of her, and only to discover blood everywhere at the farm she went to get vegetable. Alarmed, she alerted her husband, Emeka.

And after a search at the spot, the lifeless body of Chioma and her severed head were seen at a nearby spot with palm tree leaf used to cover her by the assailant or assailants.

The matter was reported to the police who came to remove the corpse and deposited it at the mortuary.

Abia state police commissioner, Usman Tilli Abubakar confirmed the incident. He said that the police was still investigating the matter.

Abubakar who ruled out ritual killing said it could as a result of land dispute. He said that no arrest has been made so far.

On the said threat by Ameke community, the police commissioner sued for peace and said that he has directed the DPO in charge of the area to invite the two communities.

Samsung reportedly close to releasing Glass competitor — and Google’s involved

This one is definitely a rumor, but its source is reliable enough to warrant a little speculation. Analyst and blogger  Eldar Murtazin  tweeted a rather definite message this week that Samsung is “developing [its] own version of Google Glass. We will see it (probably) around April – May under Gear Glass brand.” Given that Google’s own version of Glass is not expected to hit the mass market until early 2014, Samsung’s Glass competitor could very well race Google’s to market. That might seem like a nightmare for Google, which has invested heavily in Glass and is no doubt planning for a strong event launch, but as was pointed out in a CNet article, the use of the word “Glass” implies an official partnership. Samsung is known for its aggressive branding and Google would likely raise legal concerns regardless, so it’s unlikely the brand Gear Glass would be used without a partnership. Does Google even want to sell Glass, or does it just want you wearing face-screens? ...
