A Swiss luxury boutique has denied any wrongdoing after US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey claimed she was the subject of racism when a shop assistant allegedly refused to show her an expensive handbag.
Winfrey, one of the richest women in the world, says she was in Zurich for US singer Tina Turner's wedding last month and spotted a swanky crocodile handbag while out shopping.
When she asked to see the bag, the woman told her it was too expensive and offered to show her something else.
Trudie Goetz, head of the Swiss luxury chain Trois Pommes, has denied her saleswoman had ever sought to stop Winfrey buying the bag.
But Switzerland Tourism has apologised and says the saleswoman behaved inappropriately.
