Photo Trend Alert! Would You Buy These Smart Pants For Your Cell Phones?

Nude cell phones are so last year, at least in Japan. Today’s strange underwear news deals with SMART PANTS™, aka cell phone underwear, which is apparently taking Japan by storm. I know that the Japanese love testing out new fashion trends, but I'm not sure I could have ever seen this coming.

A recent article on a Japanese subculture website explained the phenomenon, which began when Japanese toy manufacturer Bandai Co. brought the undies to market in March of this year. SMART PANTS™ are the brainchild of a Bandai employee, 27-year-old Hisashi Moriuchi, who told the Japan Subculture Research Center, "I was asked by my boss to come out with something amusing to sell in capsule vending machines. So I thought it would be funny to dress up my iPhone with underwear."
Since March, Bandai has released a number of collections–most recently, a collection that includes iPad-sized SMART PANTS™. Hisashi explained the strange new place for panties like this, "The purpose of the smart pants is partly to protect the home button of your smart phone from being accidentally pushed. People wear pants to protect their sexual organs, their most sensitive spot. Well, on the Android phones, that’s the home button and the same with the iPhone. It just feels right to cover it up nicely."

Since this past spring more than 1 million cell phone panties have been sold. SMART PANTS™ are currently sold in Japan, Hong Kong, and China, but Bandai is planning a UK launch some time soon; Europe might come soon after. No word yet on the United States.
I'm not sure this will get to Nigeria. I don't think Nigerians are mature enough to handle this trend anyway. Funny but weird trend. lol

What do you think? Would you ever put SMART PANTS™ on your cell phone?

13 Places You Should Visit In before the end of 2013

Wikimedia Commons It's more than halfway through 2013 and even though the summer is winding down, there's still plenty of time to book a trip to a great destination. We looked at major developments, cultural trends, and global festivals to find the hottest places to travel around the world in 2013. There are vast untouched landscapes that offer incredible outdoor experiences, cities that are experiencing a cultural rebirth, and up-and-coming destinations that offer great deals and few tourists. London, England Since Kate Middleton gave birth to Prince George Alexander Louis last week , England has been in the national spotlight, and is expecting a tourism boost. Samsung reportedly close to releasing Glass competitor — and Google’s involved

This one is definitely a rumor, but its source is reliable enough to warrant a little speculation. Analyst and blogger  Eldar Murtazin  tweeted a rather definite message this week that Samsung is “developing [its] own version of Google Glass. We will see it (probably) around April – May under Gear Glass brand.” Given that Google’s own version of Glass is not expected to hit the mass market until early 2014, Samsung’s Glass competitor could very well race Google’s to market. That might seem like a nightmare for Google, which has invested heavily in Glass and is no doubt planning for a strong event launch, but as was pointed out in a CNet article, the use of the word “Glass” implies an official partnership. Samsung is known for its aggressive branding and Google would likely raise legal concerns regardless, so it’s unlikely the brand Gear Glass would be used without a partnership. Does Google even want to sell Glass, or does it just want you wearing face-screens? ...
