Samsung unveils eye-tracking smartphone

Samsung has launched a smartphone which allows users to control its 5in (12.5cm) screen using only their eyes. The Galaxy S4 follows on from last year’s S3, a product that sold over 40 million units worldwide. At a lavish, Broadway-themed event in New York, the company also demoed the phone’s ability to take two different pictures at once. Analysts widely regard Samsung to be the biggest challenger to Apple’s dominance of mobile products. The Galaxy S4 will be rolled out globally at the end of April. Following the launch,  shares  in Samsung fell 1.7% in early trade in Seoul on Friday amid worries the market for phone upgrades was “flattening out”. The company’s head of mobile communications, JK Shin said 327 mobile operatiors in 155 countries will carry the handset. The device will be made available in two colours, white and black In the UK, Vodafone, Three, Orange, T-Mobile and EE have all announced plans to offer the device on their networks. Through a series o

Samsung races Apple for wristwatch market

Samsung Electronics is developing a wristwatch as Asia's biggest technology company races against Apple to create a new industry of wearable devices that perform similar tasks to smartphones. "We've been preparing the watch product for so long," Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile  business , said in an interview in Seoul. "We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them." Lee had no comment on what features the watch might have, how much it would cost and when it would go on sale. The Suwon, South Korea-based company already plans to release three high-end smartphones this year - including the Galaxy S4 unveiled last week and one using the Tizen operating system - as it competes with Apple for customers in a slowing global market. Samsung's disclosure comes after people familiar with Apple's plans said last month the U.S. company h

Emii disconnects from an old flame in "Time To Move On."

Emii disconnects from an old flame in "Time To Move On." It's been a minute since we've heard from Los Angeles popstress  Emii . You might recognize the golden-haired goddess from her  infectious "Stilettos" dubstep remix , or perhaps you'll recall that time  Snoop Dogg  made a cameo on her single  "Mr. Romeo. " (And do NOT tell me that jam doesn't still hold a place on your "getting revved for pilates" playlist.) Now, Emii's back with her latest endeavor, a sugary-sweet, synthed-out pop tune called "Time To Move On." Listen to Emii's "Time To Move On" after the jump. Set to a thumping, up-in-da-clurrb-ready dance beat, Emii's booming vocals rise above the noise as she croons about up and leaving some crazy DB who mistreated her: "Don't wanna settle/ For what I don't deserve/ Don't wanna cry any more/ For what I don't deserve/ Don't wanna drown in mistakes that I&

R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D: Ezu River victims murdered, says autopsy

BY Emeka Mamah Snippets from the autopsy report on the 25 corpses dumped inside Ezu River in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, indicate that the deceased were extra-judicially murdered. Vanguard gathered from sources in Lagos last night that the pathologists, who carried out the autopsy, discovered some bullet wounds, bruises and other signs that the suspects did not die of natural causes. The sources said although the results of the autopsy were scanty, it would be correct to assume that those whose corpses were thrown into the river had been in detention or custody. Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Lawrence Ikeakor, had said that government made “startling discoveries” from the corpses of three of the victims, whose bodies were initially exhumed, prompting it to order further investigations on the remaining bodies. Tongues were wagging last night that some of those killed were suspected kidnap or armed robbery suspects in the custody

Lionel Messi's 'magisterial lesson' lights up Barcelona win over Milan

•  Argentinian scores twice in 4-0 second-leg victory • Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova to return in two weeks • All the best pictures from Camp Nou Lionel Messi  delivered a "magisterial" display to inspire  Barcelona  to a 4-0 win over  Milan  and complete a remarkable comeback that took his side into the quarter-finals of the  Champions League . The Argentinian forward capped a breathtaking display with two goals as Barça overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to clinch a place in the last eight. Yet for all their dominance, the assistant coach Jordi Roura dismissed suggestions that his team are favourites to win the competition. He also indicated that  Tito Vilanova , off work  recovering from cancer of the saliva gland , may return to his job soon, after Charly Rexach, who is adviser to the club's president, had revealed that he expected the first-team coach to be back in Barcelona on 25 March. Roura praised his players for their intensity and admitted that

Hostages may still be alive –Minister

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, has said that the reported killing of seven kidnapped  foreign construction workers by a militant Islamic group, Jama’atu Ansarul Musilimina Fi Biladis Sudan, remains unconfirmed. “As long as it (killing) remains unconfirmed, efforts will be made to ensure their rescue and security,”  Moro told the Hausa service of the  British Broadcasting Corporation  on Monday. “I want us to also think that belief is quite different from confirmation. And maybe the affected countries believe that was what happened, but on its part, the country where it is said to have happened, based on what it sees, is doing the best it can in ensuring the men are freed, who it hopes are alive.” But  his  belief  and comments by his Information counterpart , Labaran Maku,  as well as   security agencies  showed that there was confusion  in  government circle over the fate of the kidnapped foreigners.
